Trainr
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 July 2026. This policy explains how Trainr handles personal information for a public personal trainer directory and marketplace.
Information we collect
Trainr may collect account details, contact information, trainer profile information, listing content, photos, availability, location preferences, enquiry messages, analytics data, and device information. Trainers are responsible for ensuring the information they publish is accurate and suitable for public display.
How we use information
We use information to operate trainer listings, help clients discover trainers, respond to enquiries, improve search and filtering, prevent misuse, provide support, and communicate service updates.
Public profile content
Trainer names, profile images, specialties, qualifications, achievements, locations, rates, and availability may be visible publicly. Do not upload information or images that you do not have permission to share.
Sharing information
We may share information with service providers who help us host, analyse, secure, or operate Trainr. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer.
Cookies and analytics
For eligible public trainer profiles, Trainr uses an opaque first-party cookie to avoid counting the same browser repeatedly on the same Auckland day. The raw cookie is not stored with analytics: it is combined with the trainer and date using a keyed one-way digest. We do not store IP addresses, user-agent strings, referrers, account IDs, or message content in profile-view analytics. View events are retained for up to 120 days. Browser settings can limit cookies, although totals will remain directional rather than exact.
Payments and subscriptions
Optional Featured and Premium plans are billed through Stripe. Trainr does not store full card numbers; payment details are handled by Stripe under their own terms and privacy policy. We retain limited billing records such as subscription status, tier, billing dates, and customer references to operate plans, prevent fraud, and meet tax and accounting obligations.
Messaging and moderation
Enquiries and replies sent through Trainr are stored so both parties can access the conversation. Paid trainer insights count only aggregate conversation starts that contain a committed client message; they do not expose client identity or message content. We may review reported messages, retain moderation records, and remove content that breaches our terms or appears unsafe, unlawful, or fraudulent.
Data retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain business records. Profile-view events expire after a maximum of 120 days. Photos above a trainer's current public allowance may remain in private storage after a downgrade until the trainer replaces or deletes them. Trainers may request profile updates or removal subject to reasonable verification.
Your choices
You may request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of personal information where applicable. Some information may need to be retained for legal, security, or legitimate business reasons.
Trainer verification disclaimer
Trainr does not independently verify trainer qualifications, certifications, insurance, or claims. Listing information is provided by trainers. Clients should confirm a trainer's credentials and suitability before starting any program.
